DECON AREA Location When selecting a location there a few things to look at. * Accessible to the ED. * Do we have another entrance for non-contaminated patients. * Privacy for contaminated patients. * Storage for PPE and other related equipment * Security
DECON AREA Workable If necessary can the unit be assembled at 1 AM with low staffing. Will you have good patient flow. Are the triage/treatment - Hot – Warm – Shower – Clean areas easy to work in. Good ground transportation flow.
DECON AREA Containment of runoff Needless to what some people may say, you must try and contain your runoff. Depending on the type of decon unit you have this will take a pump, hose, and a 55 gal drum / bladder or and under/above ground storage tank.
