In previous years, the types of costs supported have included support for district conventions, assistance for district officer expenses to attend district board meetings and international conventions.

Turner Jr Key Club Scholarship Application Guidelines, Application (HTML or Download Word Document) The Robert H. Turner, Jr. Scholarships are awarded annually at the Capital District Key Club Convention to Key Club Members who have exemplified to the highest degree the basic principles of Key Club - caring and service - in their home, school, and community. The recipients shall be of high moral character and should have achieved excellence in all their endeavors. The Robert H. Turner, Jr. Scholarships Program is funded by the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation as part of its commitment to supporting the Service Leadership Programs in the Capital District. The applicant must have been an active member for two (2) years of a Key Club in good standing.

The applicant must be a college, university, technical or vocational school bound student. The applicant's grade point average must be "B" average or the equivalent of a 3. 00 on a 4. 00 scale. An official high school transcript must be submitted or requested with the application. Application materials shall be submitted to the Key Club District Administrator by the deadline established by the district. For further information contact the District Administrator. Financial need will not be a factor in the award.

Projects that relate to the purpose and mission of the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation will be accorded top priority by the Foundation Board of Trustees. 2. Commitments are made for one year only. Funds will not be granted to the same club or individual for a project for more than three consecutive years. 3. Grant requests for the funding cycles are to be received by the Executive Secretary of the District Foundation by the following deadline dates: Cycle I: Postmarked by September 10 th, Cycle II: Postmarked by March 15 th

A review committee will be appointed by the Foundation President and will make recommendations to the overall Board of Trustees at the fall (November) and spring (May) meetings of the Foundation Board. 5. Notification of the decisions by the Board of Trustees will be mailed no later than December 1 st for Cycle I and June 1 st for Cycle II. 6. The Capital District Kiwanis Foundation will not consider Grant applications for less than $500 or more than $5000. Grants will only be considered twice a year as noted above.

If the approved grant requires funding at the beginning of the project, 65% of the approved amount will be given upon request and the remainder will be given according to (a) above. 8. Grant recipients must submit to the Executive Secretary of the District Foundation a final report on the project within 45 days of the completion date of the project.

What can I do to support this? o o Obviously, $2 per member is not enough to ensure all these worthy projects continue. The CKDF is open to support in many ways. Some clubs give $5 or more per member as their annual contribution.

You can sell them to family, friends and business colleagues – winners to do not need to be Kiwanian’s. Clubs are invited to donate prizes to the Derby! Prizes include gift certificates to local businesses – chains are preferred where possible – donations of services.

You can honor club members with. . o A District Foundation Life Membership Available You can honor club members with. . o A District Foundation Life Membership Available to any Kiwanian with a $100 contribution. A Life Membership can be sponsored by a Kiwanian, a Kiwanis Club, a spouse or friend of a Kiwanian. The Kiwanian can be an individual, past officer or outstanding member of the Club, Division, or District. The Kiwanian receives a certificate and Life Member disc. Their name is listed on the Foundation's Life Membership Plaque and this web site. Funds derived from Life Memberships are invested. Only the interest earned is used for Foundation programs. Therefore, your one-time contribution continues to support the Foundation activities year after year. Use the Contribution Form (HTML or Word document) and send to the address on the form.

The name of the Kiwanian receiving the honor is listed on the Tablet of Honor Board and this web site.

Or Join the Founder’s Society! o o The Founder's Society is an endowment fund Or Join the Founder’s Society! o o The Founder's Society is an endowment fund within the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation (CDKF) created to benefit the Sponsored Leadership Programs. A tax-deductible contribution of $1, 000 can be made to the CDFK designated for the Founder's Society. This can be done by check; gift of appreciated stocks or other financial investments assets, or a bequest in a Will, Trust or Estate Pan. A contributor receives the satisfaction that they are maintaining a legacy of Kiwanis support for the Capital District Kiwanis K-Kids, Builders, Key Club and CKI; also a Founder's Society Neck Medallion Ribbon, Engraved Shadow Box Display Case, and a lapel Founder's Society pin.
