The Church Honoured to St. Prince Mikhail of Tver and to St. Prince Alexander Nesvkiy Past Nowadays The church was the last to be built in Yelets to commemorate a visit of the Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich, a brother of Emperor Nickolay II and it is truly considered to be the pearl of Yelets architecture. The Church has not changed its appearance almost all time.
Women's gymnasium, one of the buildings of Yelets State University Nowadays Past Nowadays In 1874 a women’s gymnasium was established in Yelets. Girls studied there for seven years. They got the right to teach in a primary school and at home. Is currently one of the buildings Yelets State University. Building is not the best condition and needs a major overhaul.

It is the main architectural building in the town, the center of its architectural composition. Red Square, where the Cathedral is situated, used to be the centre of Yelets fortress in ancient times. The Cathedral is built in Russian-Byzantine style by Constantine Andreevich Ton, a great Russian architec.

Past Nowadays Next to the north entrance to the Cathedral there is a Chapel. It has a form of a bogatyr’s helmet. The Chapel was erected to honour Yelets people, perished in the struggle for their town with Timur’s army 6 centuries ago.

Yelets feature is that many of the buildings hardly changed their appearance since the construction. For example on the photo you can see the building which changed only annexe.
Torgovaya street Past Nowadays Yelets is an ancient merchant town. In the old days, each town had a street that focuses on all business activities. Torgovaya Street (now Mir Street) has always been Yelets trading centre. There were a lot of shops and stores there. On the photo you will notice that it has not changed since.
The Yelets Industrial and Economic College Past Nowadays Yelets Industrial and Economic College is one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia and the Lipetsk region. Educational institution is housed in a former provincial zemstvo. College traces its history from the County Eletsk craft workshop.
