Year 11 – 12 Transition Work Art A level
Nine different approaches to drawing Drawing is essentially ‘mark making’ and doesn’t need to be produced with traditional media like a pencil, pen, charcoal, fine liner, biro, etc. If you came to the taster session the tea drawing you did is a good example. For this exercise we would like you to come up with nine different/unexpected approaches to produce nine ‘drawings’ that record related subject matter of your choice. Each of these drawings should be small - approximately A 6 in size - so they can all be presented on the first double page of your sketchbook (You can buy these from us right at the start of term). If this A 6 size is too restrictive and limits your choice of media you can produce a larger drawing anyway and document it with an A 6 photograph. We think that this should take you about 5 -10 hours to complete overall but rather than doing all of them over a long single period we suggest that you spread them over the summer, using places you go and experiences you have to stimulate ideas for alternative drawings. We’re looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with at the beginning of next term.
Some images to get you thinking…. .
