Go through Cockshutt. Two miles after Cockshutt on the right hand side of the road is the small lay-by. If approaching from Shrewsbury, turn the vehicle around before parking (continue up the road to turning point – see map) so that students can disembark safely. Mobile phone coverage: Orange Site Description: A eutrophic kettle hole mere of importance nationally and internationally (SSSI). Surrounded by agricultural farmland. Great Fen sedge & Club rush are present in the marginal vegetation. Previously of importance for the submerged vegetation which has declined. Used by Anglers. There is also limited parking if you go into Cockshutt, almost immediately take the first right to English Frankton. Take the left (Crosemere Lane) at the Y junction. At mini cross-road go straight over. Continue down lane until past farms. Road peters out into farm track, continue until parking area is reached (SJ 432300).
