The Strategy - Expanding the role of the ACP • College partners and Brookes wish to work together to grow the market for higher level qualifications and attract more HE students • We recognise the challenge of future public sector funding and that growth in HEFCE numbers for fully funded students is limited • The demand for enhanced skills within the UK workforce presents an opportunity to engage with employers locally & regionally • Individuals and employers appreciate that they will need to pay increased fees and may require more bespoke programmes in return
The Problems facing the UK economy • UK economy is emerging from the recession – those organisations that develop their human resource capital will come out first and strongest • Business is changing – the world is now a very different place – customers, supply chains, technology etc are all evolving • Employers need people who are able to adapt, respond to new opportunities and have a range of skills • Retaining talent is one of the biggest challenges facing business 4
The Solution – ACP Workforce development • • • The Employer defines the training needs and skills gaps in their business. Together we design the programme content and delivery mechanism Flexibility – higher level skills can be delivered in the workplace, in bite-sized units, at a time and cost to suit the business and the individual Accredited Qualifications – the individual employee receives Credits for each piece of learning. They improve their skills while working. They can balance other life commitments while building a career portfolio and a CV 5
The Content - Workforce development delivery • Short or longer courses can be offered to employers • “Bite size” learning – ready made or bespoke • Modules of Foundation degrees • Flexible accredited courses at degree and postgraduate level • Higher level Apprenticeships • Stepping stone options – from FE to HE • Vocationally based – taking theory, making it relevant, applying it • Accredit prior learning, including in-house programmes • Delivered on campus, at a partner college, in the work place, online, or a blended combination of modes 6
