“When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it. But when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfying kind. It may be the beginning of knowledge but you have scarcely in your thoughts advanced to the state of science” William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, 1824 -1907
Galileo said: Philosophy is written in this grand book, the universe which stands continually open to our gaze. But the book cannot be understood unless one first learns to comprehend the language of mathematics, and its characters are triangles, circles, and other geometric figures. Without a knowledge of them, it is humanly impossible to understand a single word of it. Without these, one wanders about in a dark and obscure labyrinth. ” Galileo – in The Assayer
“Iron rusts from disuse, stagnant water loses its purity, and in cold weather becomes frozen, even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind. ” Leonardo da Vinci 1452 -1519
“Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living; the world owes you nothing; it was here first. ” Mark Twain
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle. ” Abraham Lincoln
“Wisdom comes from making good decisions. Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from making bad decisions. ” Anonymous
