Communities of Focus • We serve the Greater Puget Sound Area, but we focus our resources in the most impoverished communities. • In Tacoma we focus on the Eastside and Hilltop neighborhoods. • In Seattle we focus on the Rainier Valley, Skyway, and White Center neighborhoods. • Committed to working collaboratively with community partners. • Committed with our partners to the well-being of children and youth. 4

Fife Storehouse Partners • We currently server over 140 partners reaching from Chehalis to Everett and over to the Tri Cities area. • We also served over 100 Title I schools in 13 different school districts the greater Puget sound from Lakewood up to Seattle 5

Purpose Statement The purpose of Domestic Disaster Management is to prepare for and respond to natural and man-made disasters within the continental United States through community-based preparedness planning, mobilizing prepositioned resources, and providing training to World Vision staff, churches, and strategic partners. Domestic Disaster Management is dedicated to identifying and serving the needs of the most vulnerable communities hit hard by disaster. Domestic Disaster Management engages in the full lifecycle of a disaster response: relief, recovery, and rebuilding. While Domestic Disaster Management provides essential support services to the communities. Our intent is to come alongside the community to help build capacity to mitigate the impact of, prepare for and respond to disasters. Our ultimate aim is to promote sustainable community transformation. 8

U. S Disaster Response Activity from 2007 to 2009 Some of the areas World Vision US responded to in 2007 included: Gulf Coast-Hurricane Katrina, Alabama-Tornado, California-Wild Fires, Oklahomafloods, North Texas-floods and South West Washington-Floods Some of the areas World Vision Us responded to in 2008 included: SW Missouri-floods, West Virginia-floods, Tupelo MS-tornados, Iowa (Midwest)floods, Gulf Coast (Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana)-Hurricane Gustav and Ike, Southern California Wildfires, Washington-floods Some of the areas World Vision Us responded to in 2009 so far include: Washington-floods, Washington-house fires in Seattle, Minnesota/North Dakota-Floods 12

Local Partnerships • World Vision has a rich network of partnerships with churches, community organizations, and government agencies with whom we work when disaster strikes. This network and our long-term presence in a community allows World Vision to quickly respond during a disaster in coordinated, effective ways. As a trusted partner serving in the community, World Vision-along with its partners-also can respond to disasters with greater reach and long-term impact. 13

Civil Service World Vision works to be a responsible and effective voice in the community by serving on planning committees with organizations such as National and State Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD), the office of Emergency Management (OEM), FEMA, The Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity. These relationships allow us to serve as a liaison to the community and be a voice for the children and families in need. 14
