What can we help with? Finance : University funds, budgeting, debt advice, welfare benefits. Housing : Tenancy and contract disputes, disrepair, deposit issues. Academic : PEC forms, appeals, complaints. Health : Personal or health matters, how to register with GP. Legal Information and Consumer Rights. Baby Equipment Service for Students (BESS) - cots, pushchairs etc. for hire. This list is not everything we can do but a flavour.

Additional Support Specialist Clinics for 2014/15 TUESDAYS Cuppa with a Coppa 12 pm – 2 pm A chance to discuss/report issues and security information.

Wednesdays 12 pm-3 pm Free stress busting massages. Can help with anxiety, headaches, depression, migraines, neck, shoulder, knee or back pain. Drop in, no appointment necessary.

Thursday (Fortnightly appointment only) Environmental Health Clinic November – March 10 am-12 pm DIRT? DAMP? DISREPAIR? Report issues with your student house and get advice from the city council.

What else do we do? Road shows and Campaigns on ‘topical issues’ like money, academic issues and housing Articles on NSR and in the Courier on issues that affect you!

What can’t we do in the Advice Centre. • Immigration or Visa advice. • Be a legal representative. • Be a substitute parent. • SAVE THE WORLD. HOWEVER WE WILL TRY TO REFER YOU TO AN AGENCY THAT CAN HELP.

Additional Support for International Students. Advice, support and representation on many issues. We can also refer you to the University Visa and Immigration Officer who can assist you with applying to extend your leave to remain in the UK. www. ncl. ac. uk/student-progress/visas/

Volunteering with the Student Advice Centre. Students from any year can volunteer within the Student Advice Centre in a number of different roles: • Administration • Research • Reception skills • Marketing Being a volunteer not only can enhance your CV with workplace skills, you would also be helping other students during their time at university! So go on make a difference. The adverts for recruitment happen in February so watch out for the posters.
