WHAT COMMON NOUNS DERIVE FROM PROPER NOUNS? ДИЈАНА ТРАЈЧЕВСКА APRIL, 2016
COMMON NOUNS VS. PROPER NOUNS • A PROPER NOUN HAS TWO DISTINCTIVE FEATURES: 1)IT WILL NAME A SPECIFIC (USUALLY A ONE-OF-A-KIND) ITEM 2) IT WILL BEGIN WITH A CAPITAL LETTER NO MATTER WHERE IT OCCURS IN A SENTENCE • COMMON NOUNS NAME PLACES, PEOPLE, THINGS OR IDEAS THAT ARE NOT SPECIFIC. SINCE THESE NOUNS ARE NOT NAMING ANYTHING SPECIFIC, THEY DO NOT NEED TO START WITH A CAPITAL LETTER UNLESS THEY BEGIN A SENTENCE.
