Beginning and Ends of Day Arrive on playground from 8. 40 Staff supervise the playground before school Line up on the Junior playground at 8. 50 Parents please stay behind lines unless you have an urgent message Please give messages to any member of the Year 3 team End of the day - please don’t wait by the Year 3/4 doors Children will come to the infant or junior playgrounds Staff will wait by the Year 3 doors, if your child cannot find you they can come back to us
Meeting with a teacher Please give urgent messages to any member of the Year 3 team in the morning Staff will wait by the year 3 doors at the end of the day If you need an appointment - speak to Mrs Hitchins in the morning and we will arrange to see you or give you a call as soon as possible Formal parents evening in the Spring term Open evening in the Summer term
What does your child need? PE Kit - leave in school all week - drawstring bag - black shorts, t-shirt white or house colour, trainers/pumps, change of socks, tracksuit School Book Bag – Plastic folder for books - Reading record and book - Homework books Art apron – please keep in PE bag all the time Water bottle Pencil cases – only used for wet day play Small named purse or envelope for lunch money Coat, sun hat, hat and gloves Please tie long hair back and leave jewellery at home, where possible PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE ARE REALLY SHORT OF SPACE, LABEL EVERYTHING, LOST PROPERTY RETURNED DIRECTLY TO CHILD OR LEFT IN CLOAKROOM

Swimming Spring Term – Friday – 10. 45 – 12. 30 Ten Weeks Loddon Valley - Travel by bus Payment card - £ 30 - term or £ 3 weekly All children are assessed during first lesson by the Loddon Valley Swimming Teachers Divided into 5 or 6 ability groups Non swimmers are taught in the learner pool Swimming costume, trunks, swimming hat, towel Please help your child practise getting dry and dressing themselves quickly.
Holidays Wokingham have a new policy for holidays during term time. From September 2012 all holidays will be classed as unauthorised leave and will be shown on the child’s attendance record. Anybody requesting leave will need to attend an interview at least one month in advance, with one of the Senior Management Team and this will then be discussed with the Educational Welfare Officer. Wokingham Council are introducing a scheme where parents can be fined for unauthorised absences during term time.
Homework Literacy and Numeracy Homework - 20 -30 mins. each subject, most weeks - Given out on Friday - Handed in by Wednesday - Supports objectives covered in class - Main objective is to become organised, independent and develop study skills - Spare homework sheets in tray in class - Any difficulties – please let us know Reading – please continue to read with your child every day, record all reading in diary, diaries need to be signed before books are changed Spellings – sometimes receive specific spellings to learn, continue to practise common words from year 2 spelling lists Numeracy – times tables, mental strategies, number bonds to hundred/thousand, counting/ordering larger numbers, time, money and real life problems PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD TO BECOME AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE WITH ORGANISING THEIR HOMEWORK AND HOME LEARNING
