SILVERBLATT • STARTED OFF HIS EMPLOYMENT CAREER AS A MANUFACTURER’S REPRESENTATIVE FOR A FORTUNE 100 CORPORATION. • HE STARTED HIS CAREER AS A MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER. • HAS DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA PROGRAMS IN VARIOUS SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT NEW YORK STATE, INCLUDING NEW YORK CITY. • HAS GIVEN PRESENTATIONS TWICE AT THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE NEW YORK LIBRARY ASSOCIATION. • HAS BEEN THE RCIPIENT OF VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL GRANTS FOR HIS INNOVATIVE SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA PROGRAMS. • HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY VARIOUS SCHOOL-BASED PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATIONS FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THE STUDENTS AND WILLINGNESS “TO GO THE EXTRA MILE” FOR THEM AS WELL. . • LIVES IN THE HUDSON VALLEY REGION OF NEW YORK STATE ALONG WITH HIS WIFE AND TWIN SONS. • WHEN NOT IN SCHOOL, MR. CLASSES’ OBJECTIVES INFORMATION LITERACY-The student is introduced to the principles, concepts, and practices of the critical thinking skills necessary to identify, evaluate, and use diverse information sources effectively. The class is a practical way to get the experience student needs to do in-depth research or find the answers to elusive questions. By attending the class, the student will be able to : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Identify a variety of types and formats of potential sources of information. Understand the value and nature of information and how it is organized. Effectively search for information using both print and electronic resources. Evaluate information and its sources critically. Organize information and use it effectively. Cite sources following accepted citation styles and avoid plagiarism. BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS-The class focuses on real life applications of how computers and assorted areas of business use communication and how different workplace-related programs are used as part of our daily lives whether we are in school or the workplace. Students will learn various computer programs related to keyboarding, word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, presentations and about various corporations and nonprofit organizations who employ these programs. Students will prepare various documents and presentations that best use these computer applications. There will be various projects assigned throughout the class.
ACCOUNTING-This class focuses on real life applications of accounting techniques and assorted areas of business that impact our daily lives. Students will learn various principles of accounting and about various corporations and nonprofit organizations that employ these techniques. BUSINESS MATH-This class focuses on real life applications of mathematics techniques learned in other math classes. Students will approach a variety of situations and decide on the best methods to apply. There will be various projects assigned throughout the class. General topics to Be Covered: Gross and Net Income Recordkeeping Checking and Savings Accounts Cash Purchases Charge Accounts and credit cards Vehicle transportation Housing Costs Insurance Investments Personnel and Inventory Costs Sales and Marketing Accounting Financial Management
