A Year in Review Is it June already? By Lou Jara and Doreen Palucci
A new school year approaches… • New students • New activities • More fun than ever
More fun you say? • Taking pictures is the natural way of capturing the memories. • Your students grow up so fast!
How do you share your memories? • Build a digital memory album! • It’s easy!
Preparation… • Select photographs to use – Digital- 640 x 480, 72 pixels serves the purpose – Paper – Needs to be scanned at low resolution. • Do not use computer printed photos to scan. Images will not be clear • JPEG format for pictures is best • You’ve Got Pictures!
Equipment. . • Computer with Microsoft Power. Point – Office 2000 • Download photo album plug-in from the MS Download center at www. microsoft. com/downloads. • Search for album. EXE – Office XP & 2003 already have this plug-in installed
Photos • Create file folder to store ALL photos in until ready to create photo album
Have everything? Let’s Create!
Step One… • You need to open the photo album format as a new presentation – File>New>General> Photo. Album • Click File/Disk and find the file folder with your pictures
To Choose… • Click on the first picture then scroll down to the bottom of the list. • Holding down the Shift key, click the last file. • All picture files should be highlighted • Click “Insert” then click “Create” and the pictures will automatically move into the presentation.
Now for the fun… • Work the project like any other Power. Point. • If pictures don’t cover the page, add a background. • Crop or edit pictures on the slide. • Add slide transition • Animation • Organize slides in the Slide Sorter View
So you want to share. . • Email presentation upload time (large file size = long – Some Internet providers frown on large file emails • Pack and Go (2000) – Package for CD (XP & 2003) • Post on a webpage (for personal use only)
Sounds… • Choose from Microsoft’s collection or create your own. • Only WAV formats are accepted by Power. Point if you choose your own background music.
To Add a Sound • Set the Slide Transition and timing • On Slide One under Slide Transition choose your sound under Modify • Match your transitions with sound for clear ending
How about a CD? • Nice memory sharing. • What a great way to say thanks for a great year! • “Burn” as many CD’s as you want – Create a label for that personal touch
CD Checklist • Power. Point file • Any WAV files included in your project • Power. Point viewer, free from Microsoft (for those that don’t have Power. Point on their computer)
Any other programs? ? • Flip Album is my favorite – www. flipalbum. com • Pictures and music, the choice is yours • Version 6. 0 allows for DVD playback on newer DVD players • Watch your show on your television
Another Program • • Photo Parade www. photoparade. com Create and share photos Small events or complete year in review
