A Little Bit about me… • Momence High School class of ’ 92 – Valedictorian • Maryville University – Bachelor of Science in Math 1996 – Summa Cum Laude • Maryville University – Master of Arts in Math Education 2000 • 30 hours of post graduate work in graduate mathematics (18 hours) through UMSL and graduate education (12 hours) through Webster and Truman. • Pursuing National Board Cert. this year (please sign release form if it’s OK to use your child & their work in my analysis of my teaching).

• This is my 22 st year teaching at Parkway South (5 th overall teaching Pre-Calculus, have taught Calculus for 17 years) • Married to Brian for almost three years • 3 sons – Austin (21), Caleb (16), Hayden (14)

You Child WANTS a Calculator • TI-84 – Plus or Silver is fine if your child already has one • New Color Version (CX) out is updated and easier to see • This will do everything your child needs for Algebra 2/Trig. And beyond • About $90 -$120

Do you want to give them an “Edge”? Then… go TI-Nspire • 2 Choices: NEW N-spire CX (in full COLOR (rechargeable battery), N-spire touchpad (regular batteries) • Touchpad (not CX)– can order an 84 faceplate also so you get two calculators for the price of one, but it’s not in color. • Set up to run like a computer (“control” shortcuts, windows…) • 3 -D Graphing • CAN use both on the AP and SAT • About $135 in stores or online

UMSL Credit l This class can be taken for 3 credit hours through UMSL l Credit is for MATH 1030 College Algebra l I’m on the adjunct faculty at UMSL so not extra test or work required. They just get the grade they get in this class for UMSL. l Sign ups will be second semester. I will hand out info in class when I have it. l Cost is $198 for the 3 credit hours

REMIND n n n I will be using the REMIND app occasionally this year to send out reminders to students about tests, quizzes, assignment changes, etc. Texts go one way (from app to them) – no ability to reply or communicate They do not have to participate if they don’t want to To sign up, they just need to follow directions on the syllabus (many already have) You may get emails or texts from me through Parent.
