What is core? ¡ ¡ Core is made up of three periods during the school day. It covers Social Studies and Language Arts.

Curriculum ¡ ¡ ¡ Language Arts includes writing, reading, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary development Our literature : The Language of Literature Mc. Dougall Littell Harvey Daniels’ Texts and Lessons: Non Fiction Novels: Seedfolks, Lightning Thief, & Bud, Not Buddy Grammar: Giggles in the Middle

Curriculum – Social Studies ¡ Archaeology humans, and early ancient civilizations of the world: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Kush, Israel, India, China, Greece, Rome.

Social Studies Text: Ancient Civilizations, Glencoe. Activities from TCI, which emphasizes multi-sensory learning and problem solving skills.

Homework ¡ Homework philosophy: Core allotted 20 minutes in addition to 30 minutes of reading. So. . we read every night, and bring home some work which is a follow up to work in class.

Potential trouble spots ¡ Not completing homework ¡ Not reading directions ¡ Not taking advantage of class time provided for work

Google Drive ¡ ¡ All students have their own account. The account is closed. WCSD users can only communicate with other WCSD users.

Google Classroom ¡ ¡ I use Google Classroom (class code sh 2 mg) to post some assignments. Reading homework: Each night students will need to read 30 min. then log reading on the reading form.
