General Info For Parents… • parents by appointment only. • The most efficient way to reach us is email! • We try to respond to parent contact within 24 hours. If it requires teacher input, it may take a bit longer. During testing, we may be out of our offices & not have access to a computer for several days at a time.

College Application Process • Apply NOW!!!…go to college’s website for instructions…All are different processes. Know the DEADLINES! • Official Transcript …Under FORMS on the DHS Guidance webpage (all seniors received in Senior folder)- $1 hardcopy/FREE electronic copy • Send SAT/ACT scores – Go to SAT/ACT website if student didn’t send when signing up. Cost approx. $12 for each score report • Write Essay (optional? ) …get it proof-read & modify for each school!!! • Recommendations… – Does the school requires one? – Best bet = teacher/club sponsor who knows the student well – Complete Brag sheet & request it several weeks in advance

College Days • 4 days total!!! • Must be approved BEFORE you go!!! • Process 1. 2. 3. Get approval form from Mrs. Maffucci or on the DHS Guidance webpage under FORMS Turn in to Dr. Gallucci 2 weeks before you go! Bring APPROVED documentation back from trip as described on approval form ***No College Visits last week of semester!!!

October 19 th SPC HS Open HOUSE ALL 9 th, 10 th & some 11 th grade students will be taking the PSAT. Seniors at school will be in the Auditorium participating in a “meaningful activity”. Our SRO’s have invited NOPE and representatives from MADD to speak. A GREAT day to take a college visit day… From 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. visit St. Petersburg College’s open house at a campus closest to you. Open to high school juniors and seniors. Students can: – Explore different majors and the careers they lead to – Take a tour of our beautiful campuses – Learn about how to pay for college – Attend College 101 Seminars – Learn how to apply to SPC – Enjoy free refreshments – Ask for your official college visit letter as proof you attended.

WHAT ABOUT PTC? www. myptc. edu Two campuses - St. Petersburg & Clearwater • Graduates can earn college credit and industry/ professionally recognized licenses & certifications. • Classes are offered online and on-campus, day and evening. • Many programs take one year or less to complete. • Many students qualify for financial aid to cover most of the cost of their education. • Affordable tuition

“College/Post-Secondary Success Thursdays!” Every Thursday in October, the counselors will be in the Career Lab (just inside the Media Center) to help seniors complete college applications, scholarships, register for the SAT and ACT, help apply for Federal Financial Aid or anything else needed. Students & faculty are encouraged to wear a favorite college t-shirt all year long!

Graduation Frequently asked Q & A Graduation: Friday May 26, 2017 9: 00 a. m. Ruth Eckerd Hall Grad fees due (approx. $95. 00): The bookkeeper will start collecting in January 2017. LATE FEE OF approx. $35 after April 1 st. Final Collection dates: TBA Graduation Tickets: This is one of the most asked questions! Each senior will receive 4 tickets with their $85. 00 graduation package. There will be a lottery for the remaining tickets. Two to four additional tickets can easily be obtained but do not set your sights on 8 or 10 tickets. We will draw for additional tickets until they are gone. They will be approx. $4. 00 each, only the student can pick them up and it must be with cash.
