INPUT DEVICES Presented by: Sergey matviichuk
INPUT DEVICE An INPUT DEVICE is any peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment). Which is use to provide data and control signals to an information processing system with computer acceptable language. INPUT devices make up the hardware interface.
DIFFERENT INPUT DEVICES • KEYBOARD • MOUSE • JOYSTICK • SCANNER • TRACK BALL • TOUCH SCREEN • DATA GLOVE • BAR CODE READER
KEY BOARD
KEY BOARD KEYBOARD- The KEYBOARD is a way to input letters or numbers into different applications of programs. A keyboard also has special keys that help operate the computer. The most popular keyboard used today is the 101 -keys QWERTY keyboard.
TYPES OF KEYS IN KEYBOARD Alphabetic Keys Numeric Keys Function Keys Navigation keys Extra Keys
QWERTY KEYBOARD
MOUSE
MOUSE A MOUSE function as a point-and-draw device by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface. We can use it only with GUI (Graphical user interface) based on operating system. E. g. Windows. The main goal of any mouse is to translate the motion of your hand into signals that the computer can use.
MECHANICAL MOUSE- A mouse that uses a rubber ball that makes contact with wheels inside the unit when it is rolled on a pad of desktop. OPERATING OF A MECHANICAL MOUSE: 1: Moving the mouse turns the ball 2: X or Y rolls grip the ball and transfer movement. 3: Optical encoding disks include light holes. 4: Infrared LEDs shine through the disks. 5: Sensors gather light pulses to convert to X and Y Velocities.
OPTICAL MOUSE- A mouse that uses light to detect movement. It emits a light and senses its reflection as it is moved. As the user rolls the mouse on a flat surface, the cursor on the screen also moves in the direction of the mouse’s movement.
SCANNER
SCANNER- A SCANNER is used to copy pictures of other things and save them as files in the computer. A light moves slowly over the surface of the picture of object to be scanned. The colors of the reflected light are detected and digitized to built up a digital image.
FLATE-BED SCANNER- A FLATE-BED scanner is like a copier machine consisting of a box having a glass plate on its top and a lid that covers the glass plate. Its also called desktop scanners, are the most versatile and commonly used scanners. SHEET-FED SCANNER- It is similar to FLATE-BED scanner except the document is moved and the scan head is immobile. A sheet-fed scanner looks a lot like a small portable printer. HAND-HELD SCANNER- A HAND-HELD scanner has a set of light emitting diodes encased a small case that can be held in hand conveniently to scan a Documents. It is use the same basic technology as a Flat-Bed scanner. This type of scanner typically does not provide good image quality. However , it can be useful for quickly capturing text.
TRACK BALL
TRACK BALL- A TRACK BALL is used the same way as a mouse but it is useful where desk space is limited. It is like an upside down mouse because the user rotates the ball and the main body parts stays still. It has buttons like a standard mouse.
BAR CODE READER
BAR CODE READER- Bar code is a machine readable code in the form of a pattern of parallel vertical lines of varying width which is read by bar code reader. Bar code reader is a electronic device that scans a bar code image and converts it into an alphanumeric value that is feed in a computer which connected to a Bar code reader. It use a leaser beam scanning technology. It is commonly use for labeling Goods in super market, Books in library, Package, Badges etc.
OTHER INPUT DEVICES • DIGITAL CAMERA • MICROPHONE • DISK DRIVER • DIGITISERS • OPTICAL READER(OR) – 1. Optical character recognition 2. Optical mark recognition 3. Magnetic ink character recognition
