RECAP FROM LAST YEAR
GOOD STUFF FROM LAST YEAR! 290 – 342 student went to college 4. 3 million in Scholarships 2013 - 2014 to 4. 8 million dollar this Several Parent Night ACT Parent Night Open Door Policy took off - Input Survey Twice a year – More Input Executive Council – More input Strengthen Attendance and Waivers – Per your input Beginning of the Year Teacher Luncheon (Chili's) Workday Improved Video for Freshmen Registration We ended the school year well with Graduation at 95% We ended the school year well with our staff meeting
OUR 1 ST YEAR - I OBSERVED Suspended 2 students (Before school started) Suspended a parent (Before School Started) Hired 22 employees We have some great Staff Members! § Examples: Folders at the end of the year § Social Committee Stuff Most are willing to be honest and give good input ( Not Just Negative input) Not use to Open Door Policy (This is not a gimmick – I want your input!) Want to be treated as a professional and respected – This is important! Some folks wanted change - Some did not ! Technology Know about the school and the history School Behaviors need to be monitored by all not just 4 administrators and 15 teachers.
BEHAVIOR Behaviors: § Perception is: We need to be harder on discipline § Fact is: Suspension Rate – Last year : 226 – Year Before: 218 § Myth: Administration is suspending less. § Fact: Just make sure it makes sense and we can defend it § Problem is: I need to change that perceptions - but it cant just be me. § Talking back in the hallway – Not expectable - § Solution: Ask Questions § Solution: Do not wait until the “last straw” to write a referral. Give us a heads up. § Solution: Please do not react with negative behavior Example of teacher at Coulwood. Don’t stay mad about a discipline issue for 3 months – complain about it and then tell administration about later!

Think of Porter Ridge High School as a Bus with no wheels. We are the gas and the wheels
RUNNERS, JOGGERS, WALKERS AND RIDERS
RUNNERS (THEY MOVE THE BUS) ENERGETIC, INVOLVED IN THE SCHOOL, ON DUTY – MOVING THE BUS FORWARD – WORRIED MORE ABOUT KIDS AND WHOLE SCHOOL’S SUCCESS INSTEAD OF PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS – LETS GET IT DONE! THEY FIX IT! NOT NEGATIVE!
JOGGERS THEY DO THE JOB! THEY DO JUST ENOUGH. SOMETIMES IT IS ABOUT THE KIDS AND THEM! (GOOD ATTITUDE, SLIGHT COMPLAINERS) WILL TELL ADMIN THE GOOD AND BAD I AM FINE WITH THE GOOD AND BAD!
WALKERS DO NOT LIKE CHANGE, DO NOT LIKE RUNNERS (MAKES THEM LOOK BAD), SLOW AND STEADY, COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING, POINTS OUT ALL THE NEGATIVE IN THE ORGANIZATION IN ORDER TO DEFLECT WHAT THEY ARE NOT DOING. THEY CONNECT WITH NEW TEACHERS AND IN ORDER TO CREATE A “ENVIRONMENT OF POISON”.
RIDERS THEY HAVE PICKED UP THERE FEET AND ARE DEAD WEIGHT, DON’T CARE (EXAMPLES: LATE EVERYDAY, LEAVES AT 2: 59 AND 59 SEC. , DO NOT ATTEND IN ANY EVENTS AND COMPLAIN WITH NO SPECIFICS
WHO ARE YOU?
WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU A RUNNER? ? (AND ARE YOU RUNNING THE RIGHT WAY? )
WHO ARE YOU? JOGGER – ARE YOU GIVING ME THE GOOD AND THE BAD? OR JUST ALWAYS THE BAD
WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU A WALKER – COMPLAINS THAT THE SKY IS FALLING AND WHEN ASKED ABOUT SPECIFICS THE BEST YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IS DRESS CODE
WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU A RIDER? ARE YOU RESISTING FORWARD MOTION? RESISTING COMMON PLANNING, RESISTING PLC; RESISTING MEETING ABOUT DATA- ARE YOU DEAD WEIGHT?
WALKERS AND RIDERS I AM ASKING YOU TO FINALLY JOIN THE STAFF AND BE APART OF OUR CULTURE
