Task-based method • Recruit 6 -8 people from the target audience • Evaluators try out the application one at a time while the project team watches • Evaluators are given 3 -5 typical tasks to complete • Evaluators use a “think out loud” protocol • Usability consultant debriefs evaluator after task completion • Team watches and listens for usability issues • Usability consultant debriefs team and documents issues © 2003 Regents of the University of Minnesota. 34
