Wayne County Public Schools and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Education Coalition May 2013 Annual Review
The Military Child Education Coalition is an interdisciplinary committee comprised of Wayne County Public School leaders, WCPS Military Counselor, SJAFB School Liaison Officer, military personnel, and parents. The Coalition meets annually to address issues affecting transitional students via a Local Action Plan. PURPOSE OF LOCAL ACTION PLAN To emphasize strategies to be implemented in order to address the issue of transitioning military-connected children.
Mission Statement: The Wayne County Education Coalition will work collaboratively with military families, civilian and military leaders, educators and community members to establish support systems and develop processes that promote smooth transitions and resolve other educational issues related to the military child.

If a student demonstrates a level of skill comparable to the participation at large, accommodation should be made where possible. Acceptance and participation in extracurricular activities eases transition into a new school because the student is immediately associated with other students with the same interests.
