Washington D. C. Trip 2016
Everyone is limited to 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on.
Suitcase and carry-on You will not see your suitcase until we get to the hotel that night. Have everything in carry -on you want for the first day.
You must be able to move all your “stuff” in 1 trip.
What to take: Necessary medications 3 changes of clothes Comfortable shoes
What to take: Sleepwear Jacket/sweatshirt Belt and watch
What to take: Camera/batteries Toothbrush/toothpast e Purse/wallet for money Pen/pencil in carry-on Personal health items
Can we take i. Pods, MP 3 Players, CD Players and electronic games? Yes, if you are willing to follow the rule that you only listen to them or play them on the ride up/back and in the hotel.
And… If it makes noise, it must be muted or have headphones. You must accept sole responsibility of the safe keeping of this device.
What about a portable DVD player? Yes. The buses will have a DVD player so the whole group can watch a movie as well.
If you take it… Put your name on as much of your personal items as possible. If you leave it, you will lose it.
Can we take snacks? Yes, but be kind to your belly. ALL regular meals are included for everyone. ALL Buses are NUT-FREE! Only water is allowed on the bus. Keep buses clean.
What should we wear? Comfortable clothing is the key. You will be walking approximately 10 miles each day! Typical school clothing is fine.
3 dress rules Do not wear pants with deliberate holes. If your pants are made for a belt, then a belt is expected to be worn. Washington shirts – Sunday (Orange), Monday (Blue), Tuesday (Green)
Can we take cameras? You are encouraged to take a camera. Remember to buy your cameras, film, batteries and memory cards before we leave.
Can we take extra money? Yes, but limit yourself to around $100. Remember to take a wallet or purse.
Can we take a cell phone? There are 3 reasons to take a cell phone. #1 Talk with parents. #2 In case of an emergency. #3 Taking pictures. Texting should not be the focus of the trip – we want students to pay attention/enjoy the experience.
Student Identification Tag Each Student Will Receive a Lanyard with a Student Picture ID. On the Back of the Student ID is a Phone Number to Call in Case of an Emergency
Morning Time Schedules Wake up call is at 6: 00 AM each day. Breakfast is served at 7: 00 AM each day. Buses depart at 7: 45 AM - Don’t be late!
Evening Time Schedules Return to hotel 9: 30 PM each day. Shower and lay out clothes for the next day before going to bed! Lights out at 11: 00 PM.
Group/Chaperone Stay With Your Chaperone. You will treat them respectfully, do what they ask, they are responsible for you every minute of the trip. Chaperones will contact Mr. Krammes or Dr. Roos if they have concerns.
HHMS school rules apply If a discipline infraction occurs during the trip, the student and parent will be notified ASAP. Assigned disciplinary actions will be served beginning Monday – Oct 17 th. Students violating HHMS rules, could be sent home immediately at parents expense!
Taylor Tours Statement “All Highland Hills Middle School rules are in effect on this tour. Be warned that drugs in any form or the possession of alcohol will result in the student being sent home at the parents’ expense. ”
