Tower Bridge
The Tower Bridge—a leaf bridge in the center of London over the river Thames, near to the London Tower. Sometimes it confuse to the London bridge located above on a current. It is opened in 1894. Also is one of symbols of London and Britain.
The bridge was designed by Horas Johns, it represents a leaf bridge in length of 244 m with two towers put on intermediate support in height of 65 m. the Central flight between towers, length 61 m, is broken into two elevating covered, which for the admission of courts can be lifted on a corner 83 °. Each of more than one thousand ton wings is supplied by a counterbalance minimizing necessary effort and allowing to raise the bridge for one minute.
In second half of XIX-th century because of the increased horse and foot movement around port to East End there was a question on building of a new crossing to the east «the London bridge» . The tunnel laid in 1870 Tauer Sabvej as the underground served short time and finally began to be used only for foot movement. In 1876 the committee for decision development on the developed problem has been created. Competition on which it has been given over 50 projects has been organized. Only in 1884 the winner has been declared and the decision on building of the bridge offered by the judge by G. Johns is accepted. After his death in 1887 building was headed by John Volf-Berry.
