HIGHLIGHTS OF JALGAON DISTRICT Jalgaon district was earlier known as East Khandesh and is famous of geological features like the Satpuda ranges Tapi, Girna and Waghur rivers. Hon. Robert Gill was the first Officer of East India Company in Khandesh district with the Head quarters at Dhulia and his grave is in Bhusawal.

Jalgaon district has a very rich alluvial soil and the main crops are wheat, hybrid jawar, bajara, cotton and sugarcane. District is also one of the largest producer of banana in the country. River Tapi passes through the district from East to West.

The world famous caves of Ajanta are just 50 Kms. Away from Jalgaon on the Jalgaon–Aurangabad state high way. The main source of water for drinking and irrigation purpose is Girana and Hatnur Dam. .

In Parola Tahsil, there are old remains of a fort known to be the birth place of great queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai. Village Changdeo in Muktainagar Tahsil is situated on the junction of rivers Tapi and Purna. There is a temple of Mahadeo, which was rennoveted by Ahilyabai Holkar. In the vicinity of Changdeo there is a small village Mehun that is famous for a temple of Adi Shakti MUKTABAI.

Famous artist K. K. Moose hail from Chalisgaon, his creation, paintings and sculptures are preserved in a museum. His death anniversary was celebrated in 1998. Village Patna in Chalisgaon Tahsil famous for historical Temple is known as Patna-Devi temple. The great Mathematician Bhaskracharya stayed nearer this temple.

Great Poet saint Tulsidas is also belived to have spent time at a village Walzira near Chalisgaon Tahsil. In Chopda Tahsil, there are two Hot -water springs, one at Unapdeo and the other at Sunapdeo. The temperature of water is 140 F and 85 to 90 F respectively.

In Erandol Tahsil at the village Mukhpat there is an ancient temple of Mahadeo Ganpati and Maruti known as Padmalaya Another beautiful place in the valley 2 km south east of Padmalaya temple called Bhimkund. Tell is that this is the place where Bhima, the strongest of the five Pandavas from Mahabharata killed the powerful and cruel devil Bakasura.

At Farkande village at a distance of 16 Kms. From Erandol there is a mosque with two minars of which one minar is manually shaken the other automatically swings. The mosque was built about 300 years ago. Pal is a famous hill station in Raver Taluka. The good quality Anjan tree jungle in Satpuda Ranges with variety of wild life and birds always attracts tourists from different places in India.

At village Tondapur Digar in Jamner Taluka an old black stone ancient pond 26 x 26 meter. This pond or well constructed Pushkarni is the evidence of the Dravidian culture of this area There is deer growing centre at Pal. It is authorized by the Zoo authority of India and spread over 5 acres. There are in all 23 deers includes 20 Sambars, 1 spotted deer and 2 female antelope.

Amalner town in this district is known as “KARMABHOOMI ” of Sane Guruji, a famous of formist and writer. Manudevi Temple is situated in the Satpuda ranges. The name of Manudevi is found in holy book of Saptashatipeeth by Markendey Rishi. There is a nice waterfall with breathtaking view.
