4– Launcher status The foreseen launcher for Venµs is PSLV so far. Unfortunately this scenario faces 2 issues • at the INDIAN government level • as Venµs would be the co-passenger, the risk exist to be injected in a non optimal orbit (i. e. 666 km – 3 days instead of 720 km -2 days) • Nevertheless, other scenarios exist, the main one being a launch with PLEIADES 2 on SOYOUZ • Current engineering practice calls for a final launcher selection 2 years ahead of the foreseen launch date. In other words the launcher will be selected in 2010. VENµS users meeting – Jan 2010 14
