Problem p Toshiba’s goal is to achieve 100% test coverage on all projects. For this TV, some test coverage was missing in the IR blasting area
Definition of need p Create a test program that can verify the TV is outputting the correct IR signals to devices that are connected through IR blaster cable

Approach p Set up connection from TV to CPU through IR cable p Design a program that has two modes: - Creating database - Testing mode

Specification Creating Database The output signals from the television will be analyzed and their characteristics will be stored in a reasonably compact manner p Sampling q Sample at least 4 different brands of DVD and VCR signals q Analyze characteristics of signals and known signals will be created q Operator will take sampling signals and store in database q A ‘name’ will be designated for each particular signal
