Unit 2 : Tales to tell

Objectives • Name and understand saying verbs of different feelings. • Express feelings when reading texts with saying verbs. • Use saying verbs to convey different feelings and meanings in writing.

‘Help! The robbers just ran this way, ’ Miss Wu roared／yelled ／ screamed ／shouted.

‘Wow! I am so scared. The roller coaster moves so fast, ’ John growled／yelled／ screamed／shouted ／ squealed. 　　　　

‘M~u~m, where are you? I am scared, ’ the little girl cried／shouted／ sobbed／yelled／wailed.

‘Sh! This is our secret. Don’t tell anybody, ’ Betty whispered.

‘Stop! Don’t climb the tree. You may fall down, ’ Tina shouted／roared ／ growled／yelled.

‘Run! The house is on fire!’ Linda shouted／screamed／ cried.

‘Haha! The clown falls on the boy. He is funny, ’ Katie laughed／giggled.

‘Oh no! I lost my wallet. I don’t know what I can do, ’ Peter sighed ／cried.

‘ Wow! I got 100 marks. I can’t believe it, ’ Sally yelled／screamed.

At the beach Today, Tom and his family were at the beach. ‘Wow…! Such a beautiful day, ’ Tom said. shouted. Your little sister is ‘Shhh! sleeping. Be quiet!’ Mum said. whispered.

Tom tried to catch some crabs. ‘Oops…The crabs bite me, ’ Tom said. wailed／cried／sobbed. Tom was crying. So his dad brought him an ice cream. ‘Haha. Look at your lips. They are covered in ice cream. You look like a clown, ’ his father said. laughed.
