Unit 12: Review n. Pronouns n. Verb Tense
Agent Nouns: Review n Making Verbs into Nouns (jobs) n To change a Verb into an Agent Noun, usually we simply add “ er” ie. n Sometimes, we add “or” or “ar” ie. n teach = teacher dance = dancer act = actor beg = beggar For one syllable verbs that end with a single consonant preceded by a single vowel, we double the final consonant ie. run = runner dig = digger

Pronoun Review n Lets practice changing the pronouns (I, he, etc) to fit the situations n Reflexive Pronouns: (myself, himself, etc) We cannot have two pronouns in the same sentence, so we change the final pronoun to form a reflexive pronoun n I will be (I’ll be), as said in the simple future tense, is used to offer help
Possessives (Expressing Ownership) n Pronouns (I, he) can be used to express possession (mine, his, hers) n We can express the possessions of people by add an apostrophe + s to the end. Example: “That is Kelly’s electronic dictionary” n Possessive nouns (Kelly’s) make one of the following sounds: iz z s n If the possessive noun makes the “iz” sound, we add another syllable
Verb Tense Review n Lets review 3 verb tenses: 1. Past Continuous 2. Simple Past I was cooking at 3 AM. I cooked last night. 3. Present Continuous 4. Simple Present I am cooking. I like to cook. 5. Future Continuous 6. Simple Future I will be cooking. I will cook.
Verb Tense Review n Lets review 3 verb tenses: 1. Past Continuous I was cooking at 3 AM. 2. Simple Past I cooked last night. Or, did you cook? 3. Simple Present I like to cook.
Also, a spelling rule: n When a noun is plural (my parents) and it is changed to the possessive (my parents’s), we only add an apostrophe Example: My parents = My parents’ My brothers = My brothers’
