India Is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations as this country is a former colony of the British Empire. India is a huge country that is rich with many curiosities and natural legacy. Now you’ll see some of the most interesting sights of India.
Taj Mahal is a world heritage sight that is situated in Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". Taj Mahal
Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when Mughal capital was shifted from Agra to Red Fort in Delhi. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Qutb Complex Is an array of monuments and buildings at Mehrauli in Delhi, India. The best-known structure in the complex is the Qutb Minar, built in honor of Sufi saint Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki.
Humayun's tomb Is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi, India. The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Beg. The building was built in 1572. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
Bodh Gaya Is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. In 2002, Mahabodhi Temple, located in Bodh Gaya, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Jantar Mantar is located in the modern city of New Delhi. It consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments. The site is one of five built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1724 onwards, as he was given by Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah the task of revising the calendar and astronomical tables.
Pattadakal Is a UNESCO inscribed World Heritage site featuring 7 th and 8 thcentury Hindu (Shaivism) and Jain temples.
Hampi Is a village and temple town recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple and several other monuments belonging to the old city.
Elephanta Caves Are a network of sculpted caves located on Elephanta Island, or Gharapuri (literally "the city of caves") in Mumbai Harbour. The rock cut architecture of the caves has been dated to between the 5 th and 8 th centuries, although the identity of the original builders is still a subject of debate. The main cave was renovated in the 1970 s after years of neglect, and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 to preserve the artwork.
Nanda Devi Is the second highest mountain in India, and the highest located entirely within the country. The surrounding Nanda Devi National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
Is a famous avifauna sanctuary that hosts thousands of birds, especially during the winter season. Over 230 species of birds are known to be resident. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a World Heritage Site
Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Panchmahal district in Gujarat, India. It is situated around the historical city of Champaner, a city which was built by Sultan Mahmud Begada of Gujarat.
Western Ghats Is a mountain range that runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula, located entirely in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the eight "hottest hot-spots" of biological diversity in the world.
