TYUMEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Tyumen State University is one of the oldest higher educational establishments in Siberia. Its history goes back to 1930. That year Tyumen Teacher Training Institute was founded and in 1973 it was given the University status.
More than 30 thousand students are educated at TSU which offers a choice of 6 institutes specializing in science and humanities.

TSU prepares professionals of about 40 specializations. There about 800 lecturers among them 150 professors and doctors of Arts and science and 500 associate professors and masters of Arts and science.
WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY THERE ARE an Academic College (High School) a postgraduate school 4 scientific research institutes a distance learning centre a language learning centre an Internet education centre an innovation and technology centre a new reference library a multi-media laboratory a publishing house an Institute for Professional Education 4 museums and an art gallery
The University comprises 12 buildings. TSU also has 15 branches and 5 Representative Centers in different towns of Tyumen Region and in Kazakhstan.
Students are selected on the basis of their results in the national state examinations or the special entrance exams. The competition is fierce and many students have to pay tuition.
The University library is excellently stocked with over one million books that are electronically catalogued.
The Sport facilities of TSU include 7 sports halls and a swimming pool. TSU has 2 summer camps – in the suburbs of Tyumen and on the Black Sea.
