At the beginning… • In 2007 our school was invited to take part in the International Convention • We responded and became members of the first group • Our task was to study on distance in Lund University in Sweden and made a project

We thought a lot… • Having learned theoretical material we were greatly surprised and even upset that tourists don’t visit Kirov region, because we think our region has plenty of wonderful places for visiting and admiring.

We chose Tourism • Our purposes was: – to study theoretical material; – to make the route; – to test it by ourselves; – to show the results of our work to special tourist organisations.

Short description of the Project: • Tourism is a very popular activity • Kirov region has everything for the development of tourism • So… WHY our region is not popular among the tourists? !

Our small Motherland • There are 202 natural preserve parks. • The largest in the world location of dinosaurs (pareiosaurus). • Dymkovo toy. • And lots of interesting sightseeings.

S M A L L V Y A T K A R I N G

The capital of Kirov region the city of Kirov (Vyatka) on the river Vyatka is more than 600 years old. KIROV (VYATKA)

The pearl of the Small Vyatka ring • On the low bank of the River Vyatka there was a rich deposit of clay and the small settlement (sloboda) Dymkovo appeared there and the people began to mould clay whistle toys in the form of different animals for fairs and spring holidays. The fairs and holidays became a history, but the Dymkovo toy became the symbol and the visiting card of our city

On seven hills! • You can admire beautiful churches and St. Trifon’s monastery, the museum of local lore and the Vasnetsov Brothers’ Fine Arts museum • You can go to the workshops of Dymka Toy which is the symbol of our city and try to paint the clay toys with your own hands

The town of is famous for the wooden church made without any nail and the fur factory. The town of Orlov surprises you by the interesting museum of the peasant life, you will see what dolls the peasant children played and you can learn to do them yourselves SLOBODSKOI&ORLOV

Unusual here • Slobodskoi fur coats are of the best quality and the proud of their designers. • The unusual wooden church made without any nail was exhibited in France • The Bakulevs’ house museum tells you about life and work of the famous academician in medicine.

Old Russia • Orlov (former Khalturin) was founded in 1459. • Two wonderful museums inform you about merchants’ and peasants’ life. • You can see unusual exhibits – crockery and dolls. • You can make doll-guards for different occasions

Kotelnich is the old merchant town with unusual architecture. The paleontological museum and the largest place of excavation of pareiosaurs attract attention of tourists. The green parking on the bank of the beautiful Lezhninskoe lake is the remarkable sparetime. KOTELNICH

A lot of interesting things are here • It is famous of churches (the oldest is nearly 300 years). • The richest in our region, the paleontological museum is the only regional museum of dinosaurs.

Sovetsk (the former sloboda Kukarka) on the banks of 2 rivers the Vyatka and the Nemda is well-known thanks to the old school of lace-makers. Hand –made laces are so unique that there is no one lace like the other. You can have a footwalk along the old town, visiting the museum of local lore. SOVETSK

Home of the folkcrafts • You will be charming by this beautiful town on the confluence of two rivers • The historical museum opened in 1934 gives full picture of the settlement • You can buy or order lace in the special college of lace-makers.

The town of Nolinsk is the former place of exile in tsarist Russia where Felix Dzerzhinski spent several years. On the factory of wooden dolls –matreshkas – you can see the whole process of their production and even take part in painting of these cute dolls’ families. You’ll enjoy the green parking in the forest which is rich in mushrooms and berries. NOLINSK

What a beauty! • Our region is rich in forests, lakes and rivers. During the trip you will have 2 green parkings to walk in the forest or to sit at the fire on the bank of the river or the lake or to gather berries and mushrooms.

Kirovo-Chepetsk is a young and modern town in Kirov region with the largest chemical plant and up-to-date buildings, the small village workshop nearby makes pottery. KIROVO-CHEPETSK

Isn’t it wonder? ! • The town is the youngest in our region • The Chemical plant in Kirovo. Chepetsk produces goods not only for our region but also abroad • The well-known model Vodyanova sponsered the building of children’s centre • The small potter’s factory provides people for different pots

Out trip • We traveled to these towns • Interviewed people about tourism • Made a lot of pictures • visited local museums • Found the place for green parking
