Lab Upkeep n n Drying Rack n Place washed glassware/plasticware on the drying rack, Lab Upkeep n n Drying Rack n Place washed glassware/plasticware on the drying rack, not on the bench surrounding the sink n When it is dry, return the glassware/plasticware you washed to the cabinets n Don't leave stirbars, forceps, or other small items near the sink – dry them with a papertowel and put them away Sinks n Clean up after yourself and wipe down the sink at the end of the day to prevent staining, sitting water, etc. n Don't leave items in the sink – they can break or go down the drain n DO NOT WASH GEL SOLUTIONS DOWN THE SINK n n Let larger volumes of gel solutions solidify (in the glassware, gel tray, etc. . . ) and appropriately dispose of as solid waste (trash or Et. Br waste) If it is a very small amount, ensure it is a liquid and dilute with a large volume of water before washing it down the sink so it doesn't resolidify 6
