The Appeasement of Hitler In the 1930’s, Hitler was appeased. An appeasement is basically “giving a bully what he wants or what he is asking for. Hitler introduced his built up army in the Spanish civil war. France and Britain ignored the breaches of the Versailles Treaty. Hitler also broke the treaty when he invaded Australia and declared Anschluss. France and Britain still did nothing. even though it can be argued, Britain and Frances’ actions were considered appeasement.

Cash and carry act The cash and carry act took place in 1937. The US was not allowed to supply any weapons for other countries that were involved in the war. “Cash and carry” was the name of the amendment in which stated that other countries could buy guns from America. The British ended up not winning the war cause they had no weapons. To solve the problem the “lending lease” act was passed. This made it so that they could buy now and pay later.

Non aggression pact The non aggression act was passed on August 14 th, 1939. German minister, Joachim, wanted to make a deal with the Soviets. He met with the Soviet minister Vyacheslav. They met in Moscow to arrange two pacts, the economic agreement and the Nazi. Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. Basically what the non aggression pact stated was that Germany and the Soviet Union would not attack each other.

Lend lease act The lend lease act happened on march 11 th 1941. It allowed the united states to sell, transfer and exchange weapons by aircraft, boat or vessel. The act was made to help promote the united states defense. It was approved on March 11, 1941. They felt as though this act was important.

Coral Sea The battle at coral sea on May 7 th and 8 th of 1942. It was fought in the Solomon islands. It was the first of all the pacific wars to involve aircraft carriers. It was the Japanese first check on their offense since pearl harbor. In the end, Japan won.

Battle of Midway The battle of midway was on June 4 th – 7 th in 1942. it was fought over and near a US mid. Pacific base at Midway atoll. the Japanese were trying to take out the us pacific fleet’s aircraft carrier. After the battle, the base remained operational. It later became helpful to us in the American trans-Pacific offense.

D Day D day was on June 6 th, 1944. The words D day is a military term. It means to start an operation. It can also mean a designated date. The allies were Great Britain Canada France and the US. They were invading the axis, Germany.

Battle of the Bulge The battle of the bulge took place on December 16 th, 1944. It was very coldest and snowiest weather that they had in a while. There was 500, 000 Germans, 600, 000 Americans, and 55, 000 British. Four weeks after the battle, the bulge ceased to exist. Both the Americans and the German had big losses.

Dropping of the atomic bombs The atomic bombs were dropped on Japan on August 6 th and 9 th. They was hardly anything left. A lot of people today say that it was not necessary. But some still say it was needed. 66, 000 people died from the first bombing. 150, 000 people were killed and injured in the second bombing.

V Day Victory day is on August 6 th and through the 9 th, 1945. It represents the victory that the allies had over Japan. On both August 6 th and the 9 th, there were atomic bombs dropped. On the 6 th, it was Hiroshima. On the 9 th it was Nagasaki.
