The Time of Troubles… was a period of Russian history comprising the years of interregnum between the death of the last Russian Tsar of the Rurik Dynasty, Feodor Ivanovich, in 1598, and the establishment of the Romanov Dynasty in 1613.

After Feodor’s death Boris Godunov was elected to the throne by a Great National Assembly (Zemsky Sobor). In 1601 -1603 years Russia passed through immensely poor harvests. People worried about the rapid increase in piece of bread. People ate barks, they captured cats, dogs and ate them. Boris contributed breads to people, but resources has ended quickly.

When Boris Godunov died in 1605 boyars killed his son. At these time False Dmitry the first began to rule. False Dmitry the first picked on russian traditions and he had a bad reputation.

The reign of False Dmitri the first was short. Boyars killed him in 1606. After it they collected Zemsky Sobor and Vasily Shuisky began to rule. In the 1607 in Russia appeared False Dmitry the Second. On his way passed people, which didn't like Vasily.

With the help of Sweden Vasily could repel the Dmitry's rebellion. After that Poland (sweden's enemy) laid siege to Smolensk. Polish intervention had began. In it's turn Sweden captured Novgorod and they wanted to make Swedish prince Russian tsar. In 1610 Vasily was overthrown. From 1610 to 1612 ruled 7 noble boyars.

In that time Poles and Swedes behave as conquerors. Russia could lose it’s independence. In it's turn in Russia appeared first militia but it didn't bring success, but with the help of second militia Russia was freed from the Poles.

The founders of the second militia were Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pogjarsky. In 19 th century in the Red Square was built Pozharsky and Minin monument.

Russians showed great courage and determination to win. One of the biggest influence has played Ivan Susanin's achievement. He sacrificed himself to take the Poles away from Mikhail Romanov. In 1836 Ivan Glinka wrote an opera called «Ivan Susanin» (the second name: «A life for the tsar» ), which was based on this event.

Russia managed to overthrow Polish and Swedish interventions. After the end of the Troubles in Russia began a new dynasty - the dynasty of Romanovs.
