Thomas Jefferson's achievements : was an American Founding Father ; the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776) ; the third President of the United States (1801–1809) ; was a spokesman for democracy; Jefferson was interested in the art, science, politics , linguistics; Jefferson was a major American icon of liberty, democracy and republicanism.

Interesting facts: Jefferson spoke Greek, Italian, French, German, and Spanish; he collected vocabularies; studied Anglo-Saxon language; Inventions: moldboard plow, wooden cipher wheel, improved the pedometer, swivel chair, etc. Famous works: “A Summary View of the Rights of British America”,“Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms”,“Notes on the State of Virginia”, “Autobiography”and “Jefferson Bible, or The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth”

Education In 1752, Jefferson began attending a local school run by a Scottish Presbyterian minister. At the age of 9, Thomas began studying Latin, Greek and French. At age of 16, he entered the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg and the professor G. Wythe became his influential mentor. He was a diligent student and displayed an avid curiosity in all fields and graduated from college in 1762.

"A Declaration by the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress assembled" It was printed on July 4, 1776 under Jefferson's supervision. Signed by most parties the Declaration of Independence announced that the American colonies were separating from Great Britain.
