Early life and education James was born in Oxford, the son of Jane and Philip. His paternal grandfather was Greek. His other ancestry is English and Scottish. He attended Grammar School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Nottingham. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Career He is an actor, known as Tobias “Four” Eaton for Divergent (2014), The Divergent Series: Insurgent and Underworld: Awakening. But James made his television debut as Ray in You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010)

Music Outside his acting career, James was the singer and guitarist of the London-based band Shere Khan. Then the band announced on their Facebook page that they were no longer actively playing as a band that members would be pursuing other musical endeavors. Previous jobs: Bartender, lifeguard and working for the NHS.
