Tug O' War Game Point to the fire and say, "If this fire were real and you got too close, you'd get burned. It's the same thing with sin. If you get too close, you get burned. God doesn't tell us to stay away from sin to ruin our fun; he knows that sin hurts us and leads to our destruction. Satan is out to destroy us. God warns us to stay away from sin because he loves us and wants us to avoid its negative consequences. We will play a game of Tug O' War over the "fire pit" to remind us of our struggle with sin and that if we get too close we will get burned. Rather than a fire we will be using a sprinkler. If you get wet, you get "burned". We fight not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6: 12

Let’s visit Capernaum! View from the Sea Jesus made Capernaum his home during the years of his ministry: "Leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum" (Matt 4: 13). Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen living in the village. Matthew the tax collector also dwelt here. Capernaum is one of the three cities cursed by Jesus for its lack of faith.

Let’s visit Capernaum! The Synagogue The dating of this synagogue is debated, but it is clearly later than the first century. Excavations have revealed a synagogue from the time of Jesus with walls made of worked stone and 4 feet thick. Object Lesson The maze represents the trials and problems of life, and presents a problem for the group to solve together. Likewise, friends can help one another to solve the problems they encounter in their lives. The Bible has much to say about true friendship. Proverbs 18: 24 says, "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. " A person can have many acquaintances, but few people have many close friends. True friendship takes time and effort. A true friend doesn't give up on you when the bad times come. A true friend helps you through life's problems. Ultimately, there is only one person that will never give up on you, and that is Jesus. He loves you unconditionally. In fact, the Bible tells us that he loved us while we were still in our sin! (Romans 5: 8). The Bible also tells us in John 15: 13, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. " This is exactly what Jesus has done for you and me!.

Then He went on to justify this declaration by the miracle of healing – “Rise up and walk”. l. Along with the reasoning of the Pharisees, He must be divine for “God is the only one Who can forgive sins!” l. The charge against Jesus was blasphemy. 1. He make Himself equal with God & 2. He claims He is “The Son of God. ” (pg 22 o)

The great catch (5: 1 -11) l. A challenge (ref: lk 05 note. txt) l. Take note of the entire account! l. A prophetic parable in action. Fisher of fish to become fishers of men (pg 20 e). l. Meanings of the Parables of the New Cloth and Old Garment & the New Wine in Old Wine-skin (pg 24 q 3 -6). Gospel cannot be an addition to Judaism. First parable refers to outward forms & ceremonies and second to the principle or the spirit of both.
