THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH To flourish is the lot of the righteous. Not might or maybe but shall flourish. Psalm 92: 13 Planted in the house of the Lord. Shall flourish in the courts of our God. Sin shall not have dominion over righteous.

WHO IS THE RIGHTEOUS? Are those in a right standing with God. Some disqualify themselves because they don’t feel righteous-Romans 3: 10. Other’s place confidence in their own righteousness-Isaiah 64: 6 It is the righteousness of Christ that gives us a right standing with God. Psalm 37: 39 / 2 Corinthians 5: 2 / Romans 4: 3

VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE WICKED God makes a clear distinction: The righteous flourish/ the wicked will be destroyed. Psalm 92: 7. The enmity between the righteous and the wicked. Psalm 37: 32. The destiny of both. Psalm 37: 29/34.

PALM TREE

FLOURISH LIKE A PALM TREE 1. The palm tree grows tall and straight. The righteous are upright – Psalm 84: 11 2. The palm tree will bend but not break. The righteous will overcome the storms of life-Matthew 7: 25 3. The older the palm tree the sweeter the fruit. The righteous grow gracefully. Psalm 92: 14 4. The palm tree is ever green The righteous don’t wither. Psalm 92: 14/Psalms 1: 3

CEDAR TREE

GROW LIKE A CEDAR IN LEBANON 1. Cedar trees can grow up to a 1000 years. The righteous have the quality of an enduring spirit-Psalm 112: 2/6/9 2. Cedar trees produce high quality timber. The righteous have the quality of an excellent spirit-Daniel 1: 8/14 3. Cedar wood was used to build the temple of the Lord The righteous are building the house of the Lord-1 Peter 2: 4 -5

CONCLUSION - POEM “Bad days will come and go Storms will start and stop Age and time will take its toll One thing will keep you from being uprooted One thing will keep you fruitful One thing should ensure your growth Not how much you know or how talented you are Not the size of your bank account or the things you own Not the number of friends you have Or the committees you chair There is only one thing that will keep you strong One thing that will keep you tall And that is being rooted in the Lord of all. ”
