Roles of the Regulatory body & the Professional body Regulatory Body • Acts in the interest of the public • Promotes the process of regulation • Holds a single register of practitioners who meet agreed standards of training and practice • Sets minimum requirements for CPD • Develops & recommends a core curriculum for the profession • Operates FTP procedures Professional Body • Acts in the interest of the profession • Promotes & supports the practitioners & the profession • A membership organisation of professional practitioners • Ensures members meet CPD requirements. May provide/recommend suitable CPD courses to members • Ensures courses cover the core curriculum • May provide information on insurance to members

A Proposed Federal Structure • Single federal style body overseeing all therapies in the Foundation’s programme • Akin to HPC in terms of professional representation of each on Council • Economies of scale of shared registration, accreditation and FTP processes
