About Shakespeare's life William Shakespeare was born in Stratfordupon-Avon, England, on 23 th of April, 1564. His father, John Shakespeare, and his mother, Mary Arden, came from a rich family. Although we do not know much about Shakespeare’s early life, many people believe that he went to the King Edward IV Grammar school in Stratford and studied Latin grammar and literature. Shakespeare died on 23 th of April in 1616. He was 52 years old. Today, we remember him as one of the greatest writers in history.
The Merchant of Venice Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of Venice in 1596. This book is one of Shakespeare’s best loved-plays. It has been translated into many languages and is a favorite choice of theatre companies throughout the world. I have opened this book for myself this year at school, when we studied the literary creation of Shakespeare on «Spotlight 9» . I decided to read it and have found the reader of “Spotlight 10”I. love this book for a wonderful plot. This is the love story of Bassanio and Portia: Bassanio loves Portia, but he needs to borrow money so that he can travel to Belmont and asks her to marry him. There is the story of friendship between Antonio and Bassanio: Antonio wants to help Bassanio to find money he needs, but the cost is very high. Then there is the story of two old enemies, Shylock and Antonio: Antonio decides to as Shylock for help, but Shylok sees his chance to take a terrible revenge.
The Merchant of Venice I think that each character of this story is unusual. But my favorite character is Bassanio. Although he is young, and likes to spend a lot of money , he is a loyal friend. Bassanio is the romantic hero of this story. He wants to marry Portia, and he ask s Antonio to help him to win her love.
The Merchant of Venice is really one of the best plays. I will try to use knowledge of this book in future. And of course , I will recommend this book to my friends , because it is worth reading. I am sure they will like it. Next time I plan to read another book , which is called «A Midsummer Night’s Dream» . I sure, that it is also magnificent creation.
