Buckingham palace - official London residence of the British monarchs. The palace protects the Court battalion consisting of a regiment of Guards infantry and the Royal horse Guards regiment. Every day at 11: 30 from April till August (in other months — every other day) there passes ceremony of changing of the guard.
The Westminster palace already throughout 900 years is the house of the British government. The building occupies the space in eight hectares and consists of 1100 rooms, 100 ladders and 11 court yard. The chamber of lords occupies a southern part of a building, and the House of Commons occupies the areas in northern part.
The best kind opens from the nearby Parliamentary area. In parliament there is a Westminster hall, underground church, members of parliament. In 1987 the palace and sacred Margarita's nearby church have been included in the List of the world heritage.
Westminster Abbey - Gothic church in London, to the West from the Westminster palace. Was under construction with breaks with 1245 for 1745. A traditional place of crowning of monarchs of Great Britain and burial places of monarchs of England. It also a place of religious services, the major dates in Britain here are marked. In territory of Westminster Abbey many well-known poets, scientific, musicians, artists and writers are buried.
The London Tower — a fortress erected on northern river bank Thames, the historical center of London. One of the oldest constructions of Great Britain, long time serving by residence of English monarchs. The Tower is known and as prison. The first prisoner have ground in a Tower in 1190. Among the most honourable and high-ranking prisoners of a Tower there were kings of Scotland France and members of their families (Jacob I Scottish, John II (the king of France) and Charles Orleansky), and also representatives of aristocracy and priests.
The most part of executions — basically beheading — occurred on the Tauersky hill located nearby. Madame Tussauds museum — the wax museum having branches in Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Copenhagen, New York, Los Andzhelese, Hong Kong and Berlin. It is based by the sculptor Maria Tussauds in 1835. In 1777 Maria Tussauds creates Voltaire's first wax figure, and then have followed Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Benjamin Franklin.
The collection extended from posthumous masks during the French revolution: Louis XVI and Maria-Antoinette settle down near to the axe which has decapitated them. One of the central part of a museum is the Office of Horrors. The exhibition part included victims of the French revolution, a figure of murderers and other criminals. In due course the collection has replenished with figures of other well-known people, such as an admiral Nelson and Walter Scott.
The Tauersky bridge - a leaf bridge in the center of London over the river Thames, near to the London Tower. Is one of symbols of Britain and the most well-known bridge in the world. It is designed by Sir Horejsom Johns and it is opened in 1894. It is equipped by the special elevating mechanism. From the bridge the fine kind on the London Tower and Thames opens.
