The history of the university starts with the establishment of the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences at the Czech Polytechnics University in 1906. In 1920 the Department of Agriculture received the status of a University College. After WWII, The University College of Agriculture grew in size and by 1965 it was moved to a newly built campus in Suchdol, about six kilometres from downtown Prague. In January 1995 the university was renamed to Czech University of Agriculture. In January 2007 the official English name of the university was changed to Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
Now the University offers this academic year 8 BSc and 21 MSc study programmes taught entirely in English. University professors and teachers will share with you their advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in diverse disciplines related to life sciences, such as agriculture and forestry, environmental management, ecology, land water management, engineering, agricultural economics, economics and management, business administration, informatics, social sciences and rural development, sustainable energy resources and technologies.
UNIVERSITY ORGANISATION
Mobility, and mutual interaction, are a feature of a global world, which permeates life at the university. Mobility involves international students travelling to Czech Republic to study at CULS. Currently, over 900 international students from around the world come to CULS for one or two semesters, or for short intensive courses such as summer schools.

The academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester is divided into: • 12 week course period, during which the students attend 5 - 6 different course units. • 3– 5 -week examinations period.
