The highest mount in Russia is Elbrus. It’s elevation is 5642 meters. This is a stratovolcano, which was born about 20 billon years ago. This is the most interesting part of Caucasus Mountains.

The most beautiful. Following the opinion of thousands The Altai mountains is the most beautiful rocks in Russia. The highest peak is Beluckha mount (4506 m). The most picturesque place (except Beluckha) is Karakolskye lakes.

The most distant The name of the most distant mount in Russia is Alaid. It is a volcano in the eastern part of our country – Kurily islands. The height of the summit is 2339 meters. The last active period was in 1996 year

What happened: The tragedy took place in February 1, 1959. The group of nine experienced tourists, were trying to conquer the top of The mountain of the dead. Stopping overnight on the mountain pass, at night, all the members of the group died under mysterious circumstances.

CC ircumstances & facts of the death : : The first two bodies found from air pilot Gennady Patrushev. As later established investigators, in a panic-stricken horror, climbers cutcut the tent by their knives and ran down the slope. . Some of them were without any clothes. Most died from the cold. However, as has established a consequence, three people died from horrific injuries: broken ribs, broken heads, bleeding. One of the girls was fuond without the language. .
