The Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement It is the Agreement between the European Union, European Atomic Energy Community, Ukraine and the EU's 28 member states (which are separate parties in addition to the EU and European Atomic Energy Community). It establishes a political and economic association between the parties.

The Eastern Partnership It is an initiative of the European Union governing its relationship with the post-Soviet states of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, intended to provide an avenue for discussions of trade, economic strategy, travel agreements, and other issues between the EU and its Eastern European neighbors.

The European Neighborhood Policy It is a foreign relation instrument of the EU, which seeks to tie those countries to the east and south of the European territory of the EU to the Union. The countries covered include Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia in the South and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine in the East. Russia has a special status with the EU-Russia Common Spaces instead of ENP participation.

The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas Three free trade areas established between the European Union, and Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine respectively. The DCFTAs are part of each country's EU Association Agreement. They allow Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine access to the European Single Market in selected sectors and grant EU investors in those sectors the same regulatory environment in the associated country as in the EU.

The Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area It is a collective effort of public authorities, universities, teachers, and students, together with stakeholder associations, employers, quality assurance agencies, international organizations, and institutions, including the European Commission. The main focus is: the introduction of the three cycle system (bachelor/master/doctorate), strengthened quality assurance and easier recognition of qualifications and periods of study.

Horizon 2020 It is the biggest EU Research and Innovation program ever with nearly € 80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). In the Horizon 2020 program (research funding), there are currently 90 consortia winners, including 117 Ukrainian participant organizations with a funding share of 17. 2 million euros.

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe With 57 participating States in North America, Europe and Asia, the OSCE is the world’s largest regional security organization. The OSCE works for stability, peace and democracy for more than a billion people, through political dialogue about shared values and through practical work that aims to make a lasting difference. The OSCE is a forum for political dialogue on a wide range of security issues and a platform for joint action to improve the lives of individuals and communities. The organization uses a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses the politico-military, economic and environmental, and human dimensions.

The Council of Europe It is an international organization whose stated aim is to uphold human rights, democracy, rule of law in Europe and promote European culture. Founded in 1949, it has 47 member states. Unlike the EU, the Council of Europe cannot make binding laws, but it does have the power to enforce select international agreements reached by European states on various topics. The best known body of the Council of Europe is the European Court of Human Rights, which enforces the European Convention on Human Rights, also the Committee of Ministers, comprising the foreign ministers of each member state, and the Parliamentary Assembly, composed of members of the national parliaments of each member state.

Statistics The EU is Ukraine's largest trading partner, accounting for more than 40% of its trade in 2016. Ukraine accounts for 0. 9% of EU's total trade, with a turnover of € 29. 6 bn in 2016. Ukraine exports to the EU amounted to € 13. 1 bn in 2016. The main Ukraine exports are raw materials (iron, steel, mining products, agricultural products), chemical products and machinery. The EU exports to Ukraine amounted to over € 16. 5 bn in 2016. The main EU exports to Ukraine include machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, and manufactured goods. Total trade between the EU and Ukraine increased by 27. 1 % from January to August 2017 vs January to August 2016. European Commission

Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG was named after the Great Hetman Konstantin Ostrozky (1460 -1530). He is Ukrainian and belongs to the history of all these countries. The protocol on intentions for the creation of the brigade was signed on November 16, 2009. However, this plan was implemented only 2015, after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war and annexation of the Crimea. Poland Lithuania are NATO members, but Ukraine is not yet.

The Future of Ukraine and the European Union “Democratic Initiatives” Foundation, after a public opinion poll in July 2017, concluded that there is a collapse of the “Eurasian vector” in Ukraine, whereas pro-NATO views are growing. The NATO was supported by 55. 9% of Ukrainian citizens.

The Future of Ukraine and the European Union Institute of World Policy (June 2017): • Almost half of Ukrainians need more information on the status of Ukraine's implementation of the Association Agreement • Almost 40% are convinced that European integration of Ukraine is an irreversible process • Most Ukrainians do not believe that Ukraine's announcement of neutral status can protect them from Russia's aggression

Main Issues • Ukrainians do not know enough about the EU, which citizens also know little about Ukraine • Russian policy of intervention, domination and a hybrid war against the West and against Ukraine • The lack of value-based approaches in modern politics • Ukraine’s European integration as part of shaping a new system of global security and raising the value of justice • Ukraine aims to become an active and dynamic member of the EU • European integration has no alternatives: the defeat of Ukraine will only strengthen the aggressive intentions of the Putin’s regime
