French Cultural Institute – Born in 1994 • • Director : Matthieu Ardin with a team of 60 people One of the 176 French Centers over the world A network of centers & alliances in the country Supported by French State & linked to Embassy – Mission: Contribute to French culture radiance • Cultural program presenting the most creative aspects of French artistic creation and promoting debates around famous intellectuals and writers. – 150 000 attendees to events organized by IFU and partners – French Spring, Shorts Night, Week of Francophonie… – 100 French films screened in Ukraine • French language lessons • More than 3000 students (20% progression/2008) at IFU • 5000 teachers and 400 000 students across the country • Multimedia library with 13000 documents : books, audio, video. . . • Considered as the main cultural operator
French Spring event • Concept : Create the event all over Ukraine highlighting French creation and contemporary artistic performances. Dance - Cie Sara Ducat • Sara Ducat, French choreographer-dancer, started at Toulouse CDC and worked in New York with Alvin Ailey, Broadway dance Center), London and Barcelona. • In 2001, she was named artistic & pedagogic Director of Arts & Bodies Center in Femouillet. • 1 st performance in Ukraine “Nos chaines dorees” • Kiev + 5 cities in region • 4500 att. expected
Circus - Pascal Rousseau • Pascal Rousseau, very atypical juggler, equilibrist, performer, started at 20 years old and quickly distinguished by tv channels and festivals. • 1 st performance in Ukraine: “Ivre d’equilibre” sucessful in Avignon and Aurillac theater festival • Kiev + 5 cities • 4500 attendees expected
