Malaysia – Mr Chin Peng (陳平) • Born : 21 October, 1924 Setiawan, Perak, British Malaya • Died : 16 September, 2013 Bangkok, Thailand • Malayan political activist and guerilla leader. • 1940 : admitted to the Malayan Communist Party as a candidate member. The F and P - Happy Life 44

Malaysia – Mr Chin Peng (陳平) • December 1941: Communists’ offer of help accepted; joins the fight against the Japanese. • After WWII, Chin Peng continued his armed struggle for Independence, but this time, he fought against the British because he wanted Malaya to be free from colonial rule. He renamed his outfit, the Malayan Races Liberation Army (MRLA). • His ideology was to have an equal society with the wealth redistributed among the people equally, through the labour movement, under communism. Malaysia – Mr Chin Peng (陳平) • 1948: Three planters killed at Sungei Siput; Emergency declared; MCP declared illegal. • December 28, 1955: Baling Talks held with David Marshall and Tunku Abdul Rahman, unsuccessful because of surrender terms. • December 2, 1989: A peace treaty is signed between the communists, Thailand Malaysia.
