The DSD • the DSD (Deutsches Sprachdiplom/German Language Certificate) is a joint undertaking of the German Federal Government and the federal states (Länder) • the Central Committee for the German Language Certicate sets the standards for the DSD • the DSD is aligned with school-leaving certificates in Germany • it correlates with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) • quality assurance is guaranteed through scientific monitoring and evaluation of assessment methodology • DSD examinations are taken in more than 65 countries by approximately 70, 000 students per year Seite: 5

Requirements for DSD schools • • • A coherent German curriculum The German curriculum in German language A sufficient number of teachers At least twelve participants per year For the DSD I between 600 to 800 German lessons (45 minutes) are necessary • For the DSD II between 800 to 1200 German lessons (45 minutes) are needed Seite: 12
