A modern astronomy consists of three main parts: § 1). Ideas and taws of physics; § 2). A complicated mathematic machine; § 3) Telescopes.

§ 4. A telescope is an instrument that aids in the observation of remote objects by collecting electromagnetic radiation ( such as visible light). § 5. The first known practical telescopes were invented in the Netherlands at the beginning of the 17 th century, using glass lenses. They found use in terrestrial applications and astronomy. You can use a telescope, if you want to see objects at a distance.

§ 6. Galileo Galiley was the first man, who invented a telescope. It was in 1609. When he locked at his devise, he saw a lot of stars. He has never seen tem before. But the name of telescope was given by Javanni Demizen in 1611. The latin word “ perspicillum” was used by Gallileo for his telescopes.

§ 7. The most famous inventors, who developed a telescope were: Ian Galeliy, Christian and Konstyantyn Guigens, Justus Liebig and George Greogory.

The biggest telescopes in the whole world. § 1. Space Telescope named after James Verba is an orbiting infrared observatory, will be used instead of Habbla Space Telescope.

§ 2. Mount Laguna Observatory was opened in 1968 near San Diego in the National Park. The most high-altitude astronomical obsrvatory in the world is an. Indian observatory on Mountain Saraswati ( Ladakh mountain range north of the Himalayas) hear the city of Hanle. The observatory has an optical infrared telescope with a diameter of 2 m.

§ 5. Palmar”s observatory belongs tj the University of Chicago was founded in 1897. The biggest telescope in the world is situated there. It”s diameter is 102 sm.
