White House The White House, the residence of the President, is the oldest public building in Washington and one of the most beautiful. Originally the White House was grey and was called the Presidential Palace. It was built from 1792 to 1800. At this time, the city of Washington itself was being built. Niagara waterfall The word "Niagara" is an Indian word which means "roaring waters". And that is definitely true because the loud sound of falling water can be heard 25 kilometres away from the place. The cliff where the water is falling from is 27 metres, so it makes a very loud noise.

L o s A n g e l e s Los Angeles is very big, noisy and famous all over the world because there is Hollywood. In Hollywood American films are made. And near Los Angeles there is wonderful fairy land called Disneyland. In Disneyland you can see the characters from Walt Disney’s films.

Madam Tussauds museum Madam Tussaud's is the most popular and talked about wax museum in the world. There are wax models of the famous and infamous, both living and dead, from every walk of life.

Here is the Mount Rushmore Memorial. The construction of this memorial began in 1925. Gutzon Borglum, a famous American sculptor, carved on the face of Mount Rushmore the heads of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt.

In South Dakota, USA, there is an interesting place to visit. It's a granite mountain. Four faces are carved on the mountain. They are the faces of four famous presidents. The presidents are Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt. These gigantic heads are eighteen meters high. They are carved out of the granite of the mountain and are visible for over eighty kilometers. The monument is now an important place of interest which is visited by thousands every year.
