The Beatles
Тhe Beatles were an English rock band, active throughout the 1960 s and one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music.
Formed in Livtrpool, in 1962 the group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul Mc. Cartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead) and Ringo Star (drums, vocals).
John Winston Lennon, (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) Born and raised in Liverpool. The Beatles evolved from Lennon's first band, the Quarrymen. 1970– 80: Solo career. He wos shot by Mark David Chapman.
Sir James Paul Mc. Cartney was born 18 June 1942. He is an English musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Formerly of The Beatles (1960– 1970) and Wings (1971– 1981), Mc. Cartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the "most successful musician and composer in popular music history", with 60 gold discs and sales of 100 million singles in the United Kingdom.
George Harrison was born 25 February 1943. Often referred to as "the quiet Beatle". Following the band's break-up, he was a successful solo artist, later a founding member of the Traveling Wilburys. Harrison was also a session musician and a film and record producer. He is listed at number 21 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
Richard Starkey(born 7 July 1940) better known by his stage name Ringo Starr. When the band formed in 1960, Starr was a member of another Liverpool band, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He became The Beatles' drummer in August 1962 In 2011, Starr was picked as the fifthbest drummer of all-time by Rolling Stone readers.
They achieved success in the United Kingdom in 1962, with their first single, "Love Me Do". Gaining international popularity and acquiring the nickname "Fab Four" the following year, they toured extensively until 1966. During their subsequent "studio years", they produced what critics consider some of their finest material including the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967).

The Beatles are the best-selling band in history, and over four decades after their break-up, their recordings are still in demand. They have had more number one albums on the UK charts and have held the top spot longer than any other musical act. According to the RIAA, they have sold more albums in the United States than any other artist, and they headed Billboard magazine's list of all-time top Hot 100 artists in 2008. They have received 7 Grammy Awards from the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. They were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20 th century's 100 most influential people.
