Engineering Technical Officer Commercial in Confidence: © Technology and Innovation Sum up of Position Requirements: • Sound written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of Council assets and functions • Good organisation and time management skills • Good knowledge of general administrative procedures • Well developed interpersonal skills • Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and as an individual with minimal supervision • Have commence tertiary studies in science or engineering fields • Proven customer service skills • Civil engineering background • Able to identify, analyse and solve problems • Good computing and administrative skills • Capable of accurate, detailed work • Local Government experience is desirable • Able to accept responsibility • Experience in current water and wastewater legislation and compliance • Sound knowledge of the Water Act 2000 • Current “C” class licence 3/15/2018 • Design experience • Sound knowledge and understanding of computer programmes such as Auto. CAD, Map. Info and MS Office Suite. 14 • Good knowledge of the Local Government Act and compliance regime • Survey experience • Job estimates experience • GIS systems
Engineering Technical Officer Commercial in Confidence: © Technology and Innovation Sum up of Key Responsibilities: • Provide support to the Director Infrastructure Services for progressing varying issues; • Where directed carry out survey, design, project documentation, plan preparations, site checking for all works in line with given project priorities and timelines; • Produce draft reports of site visits and surveys, inspections etc; • Assist the Infrastructure Services Department in the preparation of reports for Government, Council and local organisations; • Project management and contract administration; • Collate information for review by the supervisor for monthly monitoring and reporting of the Infrastructure Services Department; • Be able to effectively plan operational management activities and projects; • Be able to meet tight deadlines and the requirements of external clients & internal departments; • Staff coordination for various staff; • Provide a high level of customer service to the client departments within Council; 3/15/2018 • Respond to the public on various engineering enquiries; 15 • Ensure that the public is always treated in a tactical, courteous and empathetic manner; • Provide a positive and professional image for Council; • Assist with the client briefings and activities with staff from various government and local departments; • Prepare public documents, surveys and brochures for dissemination of information to the public; • Report on Council’s commercial assets for Government bodies and Council; • Monitor and report the various compliance requirements under the LG Act and Water Act; • Actively source appropriate finding opportunities to assist in the facility upgrades; • Administer collection and maintenance of data within systems available to the Infrastructure Service Department unit including Map. Info and Auto. CAD; • Provide support in the process of asset data collection, database creation, storage, digitising asset data using Auto. CAD/GIS; • Verify the location, condition and description of assets contained within the registers and suggest areas for improvement; • Provide asset related information and reports to other staff as required in technical, works, financial and corporate areas.
